Blueprint of Breath
In architecture, an architect guides erection: we erect structure with structural faith, construct with a constructive mind, never obstruct our hearts with any obstacle; we establish what the established forgot, build, found, become our own founder on concrete hopes, concretely braced by steel and stability at a site, a venue, a future landmark situated where we locate, reside, and grow residential roots.
We inhabit, migrate, emigrate, immigrate, then settle in a settlement, a dwelling: skyscraper, villa, mansion, apartment, flat, a traveler’ s lodge, a humble hut or cabin, a quiet cellar, work- warm shed, storybook cottage, bright nursery, brave cradle, welcoming shelter.
A city block, a hopeful grid; we walk the aisle, wave from porch to corridor, count stair on the staircase, every storey a layer of courage; ride elevator and lift, share the escalator, hold the handrail; trust pillar and column and the columnist who writes of us, balance beam and laser, keep dreams in vault and vaulted rooms, under arch and arched skies, beneath ceiling, eaves, and a breathing chimney.
We pass reception and lobby wave at a friendly lobbyist, rest on a bench, talk in the parlour, warm by fireplace and radiator that radiate light; open a cabinet, lean on balcony and terrace; find lavatory, toilet, bath, bathe by the basin; reserve time, fill the reservoir, store strength; a complex of dreams, a festival booth, a healed casino of chances, a dawn studio; from downtown to urban edges we urbanise a kinder map, seed urbanisation beyond the peripheral periphery and vicinity; we face the void, choose spacious breath, airtight focus, an expanse for expansion; meet in a plaza, remember a castle, set tile, love brickwork and brick.
By suspension and hook, by lever, pole, scaffold, and crane, we lift the day; when gears malfunction, we refuse to maltreat our spirit— maintain hope, do maintenance, fix, mend, modify the plan, note each modification, trim edges, weld courage, saw doubt, screw patience, drill focus, plumb the depths; pace a viaduct, span the river, honor the span of life, brace a dam; assemble hearts in assembly, install faith, celebrate the installation; furnish rooms with furniture, care for placement, layout, and design.
Find the entrance and entry, enter with wonder; know the exit, step outside and lean outward toward the exterior and all things external, then return to the inner interior, breathe inward, heal what is internal; we navigate by quiet navigation, set a long voyage for the heart.
We are arches and beams, tiles and thunder; we build what we found, and wherever we are situated, we prevail— a living landmark lit from within.
